Kagoshima 20121027

Hi all,

When you don't plan, sometimes things can go wrong, I didn't realized that on Saturdays in Japan almost all hotels are fully booked. So we took the shinkansen and went to the south of Japan. The idea was to go to Kumamoto and rent a car there. Book a hotel and drive to Takachiho, it was a good plan. But the navigation was in Japanese, so we went to the hotel and asked for them to put in Takachiho in the navigation system. They did but it was a different Takachiho :(...

We were almost in Kagoshima before realizing that we were driving in the wrong direction. We had driven already 3 hours. So we decided to go to Kagoshima instead and stay the night. It is the most southern city in Japan. After arriving we went to look for a hotel, after several no's we finally got a yes from Hotel Solaria, this was a very nice hotel.

Hotel Solaria was in the middle of Kagoshima with a view of the central train station.

It was getting dark and it was full moon.

The center of Kagoshima was ok, and there were a lot of stores, but we were the only non-Japanese walking around. So we were all of a sudden the sight seeing and people were taking pictures of us :)

This store finds it important it is to know how you look wen bending over to greet someone :).

There was a special train driving around the city with advertisement for Kagoshima.

There were a lot of children taking a tour in Kagoshima. I also heard that today a lot of children were doing a special theater show. And all the parents would come and have a look, so that was a reason why a lot of hotels were fully booked.

After a long walk in the center of Kagoshima, we went for sushi :). This was a sushi place with a Shinkansen that brought the sushi you ordered.

I am liking the octopus more and more :).

I dont know what it is saying exactly but it has to do with the shinkansen i guess ;).

As we traveled a lot this day, we went earlier to bed. The next day we planned to go to the beach in Kagoshima and maybe take a swim :).

Cheers
